IDS Engineering Group Adds Director of Traffic and Transportation

IDS Engineering Group (IDS), a civil engineering and surveying firm in Houston, is proud to announce the addition of Emily Lane, P.E., as its new Director of Traffic and Transportation services. With more than 24 years of civil engineering experience, Emily brings a proven track record in traffic and transportation planning, design, and project delivery that positions IDS for strategic growth in this sector.

“Emily has been a subconsultant to us on a number of projects, and her attention to detail, responsiveness, awareness of schedule, and relationships with agencies stood out as a very good compliment to IDS,” said Tim Buscha, P.E., President of IDS. “We are confident that she will continue to drive success and growth for our traffic and transportation projects.”

Emily’s career began in 2001, and she has since established a reputation for clear and proactive communication, technical excellence, and the ability to lead both complex traffic system projects and multi-disciplinary initiatives. Prior to joining IDS, she worked with large civil engineering firms in the Houston area. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University and is a licensed Professional Engineer.

As Director of Traffic and Transportation Services, Emily will oversee projects across both public and private sectors, ensuring successful delivery while strengthening client and stakeholder relationships. She will also collaborate with IDS’s senior leadership team to develop and implement strategies for sustainable growth in this field.

With Emily’s arrival, IDS is expanding its service offerings to include a dedicated Traffic and Transportation Department. This team will deliver solutions for operational, capacity, and safety issues through studies, analyses, and designs tailored to client needs. New services will include:

  • Traffic Impact Analyses
  • Traffic Engineering Studies
  • Corridor and Safety Studies
  • Signal Warrant Analyses
  • Traffic Signal Design
  • Signing, Pavement Marking, and Channelization Design

“I am excited about this opportunity at IDS,” said Emily Lane, P.E. “I look forward to building a traffic and transportation practice that works with clients to understand their needs and wants, and then develop solutions that exceed their expectations.”

Beyond her professional work, Emily enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their three children. They can be found at the baseball fields cheering on their kids, camping, riding ATVs, or relaxing at home.
