Robert Yaktus

Director, Surveying-Field Services

Robert’s surveying career is rooted in hands-on experience and a strong work ethic developed from the ground up. He began in the field as a chainman, learning every aspect of surveying through practical application and long hours outdoors. With a natural aptitude for math and a deep understanding of construction, he quickly progressed into crew leadership roles, managing field operations and delivering accurate, efficient results across Texas.

Since joining IDS, Robert has played a key role in strengthening the firm’s survey operations. He has contributed to complex design-build projects, large master-planned communities, and multi-phase developments that require precision, coordination, and long-term oversight. His experience reflects both technical depth and continuity, having worked on major developments from early phases through ongoing expansion. Known for building strong teams and improving workflow efficiency, Robert takes pride in developing the next generation of survey professionals. Not only does he excel at setting the survey team up for success, but he also teaches and mentors our engineers on the survey industry.

Outside of work, Robert enjoys fishing, hunting, woodworking, and reading. He has a creative side as well, with experience in sketching and oil painting. He is involved with Coastal Conservation and supports various outdoor and community-focused initiatives.
