Matt Carpenter, P.E.

Matt Carpenter was drawn to Engineering through an interest in puzzles—for him, the key to the world is understanding how things work. IDS clicked into place and thus he has built his entire career here. After graduating from Texas A&M with an Agricultural Engineering degree in 2005, he made a home for himself in IDS’ Land Development department on the recommendations of other engineers in the industry. Land Development and District Engineering has been just the challenge Matt needed; once he understood the ins and outs of the discipline, he’s strove to discover new ways to fulfill infrastructure needs for our clients. He continues to serve as District Engineer for several of our utility districts.

Now, as Senior Vice President, Matt puts his extroversion to use to manage clients in our Land Development and District Engineering sectors. He works to maintain the same technical expertise that drew him to IDS, while also collaborating with other leadership to better the firm in employee retention and engagement. He hopes that the next generation of leaders can find their footing in a positive and ever-evolving environment. Matt also supports the management of Marketing endeavors and is always looking for ways to expand the firm’s reach.

In his leisure time, Matt likes to golf and fish, but most of his free time he can be found supporting his children as they pursue their dreams.
