Royal Oaks

Royal Oaks is a 700-acre gated, private street community located in the heart of west Houston constructed around an 18-hole Fred Couples Signature Golf Course. Adjacent to it are 200 acres of retail, office, and multi-family developments.

IDS Engineering Group provided the civil engineering design for this 700-acre residential and commercial development. Extensive land grading and hydraulic analysis was performed in order to achieve the dramatic golf course contouring, and at the same time, incorporated stormwater detention and floodplain mitigation into the golf course. Special computer modeling was used to evaluate the stormwater ponding levels to the operations of the golf course.

The scope of work included creation of an in-City MUD, master drainage plan, private roadway bridges over Richmond Road and Westpark Boulevard, and design of 14 residential subdivisions containing 875 lots within and around the golf course. Water, sanitary sewer, and drainage costs were financed through the in-city Harris County MUD No. 372. Additionally, IDS created this district and negotiated various infrastructure agreements with the City of Houston.
