Jones Road Extension
Jersey Village, Texas
- Interlocal agreement, City of Jersey Village and Harris County
- New one-mile, four-lane boulevard
- $4 million construction
This extension of Jones Road south of US 290 to FM 529 was planned to improve traffic flow in northwest Harris County and support future mixed-use development in Jersey Village. The project presented multiple coordination challenges. Greenfield construction through former pasture and forest crossed pipelines, a railroad, and wetlands, the latter requiring a Corps of Engineers individual wetlands mitigation permit. US 290 and FM 529 intersections required coordination with the Texas Department of Transportation; the US 290 intersection also required Harris County Toll Road Authority coordination for future toll road construction considerations. The interlocal agreement between Jersey Village and Harris County dictated precise record-keeping for reimbursement.
IDS successfully navigated the project through all coordination challenges while designing the roadway, underground storm sewer, drainage/detention, lift station, force main, sanitary sewer, and waterlines. We also guided Jersey Village on easement issues and dealing with property owners.
